The Flame Witch

The Undying Forge has burned without fuel for one hundred and seven years. The first night she arrived, it burned twice as hot.

She jumped into the crater to confront the entity the fire had been summoning her toward. When her fire met the entity's fire, they were identical — and the mark on her forearm that no one could see finally ignited, matching the pattern in its core exactly.

Three hours after leaving the volcano crater, her forearm mark began glowing on its own for the first time. In a burning desert, she found a figure made of embers already waiting — it left before she could reach it, burning her mark's exact pattern into a circle of fused glass at its feet.

She descended beneath a crust of volcanic glass into an ember-vein chamber and found a dormant forge-heart bearing portal-era fire sigils. When she pressed her mark against it, the chamber reignited and a coherent flame-map emerged from its surface — the first legible trace of who wore this mark before her.

The Frost Queen's border relay pulled The Flame Witch into active battle beneath sacred ice. Together they cracked the half-frozen, half-burning source colossus open, exposing an opposite seal that recognized the same fire signature as her hidden mark.

The Frost Queen held the source colossus inside sacred ice long enough for The Flame Witch to pierce its burning core. When the chest fractured, an opposite seal appeared beneath the damage and answered both marks at once.

The Flame Witch forged a counterbrand from sacred ice and inverse flame while The Frost Queen restrained the broken source colossus. The brand stabilized the unstable node, but the Source Network copied her mark into distant forge-hearts before the signal could be severed.
